Typhoon Cancellation Policy

At Sky Ocean, the safety of our guests always comes first. We understand that typhoons are part of life in Okinawa, and we aim to offer a fair and transparent cancellation policy.

Free cancellation due to a typhoon

Cancellation fees will be waived only for the nights that guests are objectively unable to stay due to travel disruptions caused by a typhoon.

This applies only in the following situations:
• Your airline officially cancels all flights to or from Ishigaki.
• Public authorities impose restrictions that make travel to or from Ishigaki impossible.

If flights resume and it becomes possible to travel to Ishigaki, the remaining nights of the reservation remain valid and are not eligible for cancellation or refund.

For example, if your flight on the first day of your stay is cancelled but flights resume the following day, only the first night will be waived. The remainder of the reservation will remain subject to the original booking conditions.

Eligibility for our flight cancellation policy is subject to guests completing the online pre-check-in, including their flight details, at least 24 hours before their scheduled arrival. 

How to request a cancellation

If you believe your trip is affected by a typhoon, please contact us directly before cancelling your reservation online.

Please do not cancel your reservation yourself through Booking.com, Agoda, Expedia, Trip.com or any other booking platform before contacting us. Once a reservation has been cancelled online, we will no longer be able to modify the applicable cancellation conditions.

When the standard cancellation policy applies

Our standard cancellation policy remains applicable when
• Flights services continue to operate normally.
• A guest decides not to travel or shorten his stay due to weather forecasts, personal preference or precautionary reasons while transportation remains available.
• Guests choose not to travel even though they are able to reach Ishigaki on a later date during their reservation.

Guests already staying at Sky Ocean

If your return flight is cancelled due to a typhoon and we have availability, we will do our best to extend your stay until it is safe for you to travel, with preferential rates with up to 50% discount.
